Full Job Title: Engineer/Scientist, Level 6 Skills Management Title Systems EngineeringJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)Job Description: This position reports to the Director of Integrated Shipboard Systems (ISS) and is responsible for establishing an Integrated Shipboard Systems technical presence at SPAWAR Systems Center in San Diego for the purposes of identifying business opportunities, communicating ISS and C3 Networks capabilities to potential customers, assisting in the capture of new business, coordinating with San Diego area Primes and Subcontractors, and providing technical leadership for awarded efforts. The position has overall responsibility for understanding customer technical requirements and needs, assisting the customer in refining requirements, determining potential technical solutions to those needs that apply Boeing capabilities, and communicating potential solutions to the customer and San Diego area Primes. It includes acting as Chief Engineer for efforts awarded by the customer to Boeing or one of Boeing's prime contractors. Competencies Typically this position requires an individual with at least 20 years of engineering experience of which 15 years of those are strong technical experience and knowledge in the area of ships, submarines, shipboard systems and integration thereof, particularly within the domains of sensors and communications. The position requires thorough knowledge of systems engineering processes and techniques, including requirements determination, functional analysis, functional allocation and system architecture. In addition, this position requires a general knowledge of a wide range of other engineering disciplines and technologies, including hardware and software design and integration and test, and an understanding of Boeing enterprise capabilities. It also requires frequent and detailed communication with customers, primes, and the Anaheim ISS Staff. The incumbent will represent the company in meetings and correspondence and must be able to write and communicate with clarity and conciseness.Notes: This position requires United States citizenship and a current DOD Secret clearance.
