Engineer - Lead Electrical Engineer

Summary: Northern Power supplies a wide variety of power systems, power products, and related assemblies to commercial, industrial, and governmental customers. Northern is currently hiring electrical engineers to support projects in its On-Site Generation and Industrial Infrastructure divisions. These projects provide a unique opportunity for direct involvement from the proposal to the implementation phases, utilizing the latest technologies in cogeneration and renewable energy generation. Responsibilities include: Lead a group electrical designers for On-Site Generation and Industrial Infrastructure projects Ensure the electrical engineering is compliant with client specifications and contractual documents Develop and maintain manpower and cost estimates for the electrical engineering portion of the project Review contractor submittal packages Provide technical support during the proposal stage of projects, i.e. site surveys, cost estimates, layout concepts, operational data calculation, equipment sizing, feasibility studies etc. Develop conceptual designs for distribution, protection, and utility interconnection Design grounding system Generate bid specifications for switchgear, transformers, power distribution and protection devices Prepare short circuit, load flow and impedance studies Prepare time coordination curves for protective devices Witness or direct manufacturer’s test of major equipment and provide commissioning assistance for project Provide production support during the manufacture and assembly of systems at our Barre facility Provide commissioning assistance, trouble-shooting
REQUIREMENTS
BSEE degree Registered professional engineer or working towards registration Three to Eight years of relevant experience Supervisory experience a plus Design and field experience with design of low and medium voltage distribution and protection systems Familiarity with large commercial power distribution systems Strong leadership skills Willing to travel for short durations
