This position is in our product development engineering team and focuses on research and development for new data products and services.Principal responsibilities include researching, evaluating, and trialing new products and technologies that have the potential to bring new revenues: Research potential products & services.
Perform technical evaluations of new or potential products & services.
Perform financial litmus tests to determine product/service viability.
Provide Cap/Ex models for marketing business case development.
Provide lead for technical field trials and technical lead for marketing trials.
Supply direction and documentation to Marketing, Network Services and Market Area Personnel for product/service launches.
Serve as the marketing department's key engineering support in the research, development, and field trialing of new products and services.
Development of specialized customer proposals as needed.
Technical evaluations for new business opportunities.Requirements:Education andThere is no relocation package offered for this position.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience: B.S. in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Electronics, or Computer), Computer Science, or equivalent.
2-5 years of IP network design and engineering experience in a service provider environmentSkills:
A fundamental understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols
A solid knowledge of routing protocols including OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, and BGP
Deployment experience with MPLS in a service provider environment
Experience with PPP, L2TP, AAA, and BRAS
Experience with VoIP is a plus
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Effective time and project management skills
