Position summary:
The primary role of the Polymer Electrical & Reliability Engineer is to improve Asset Availability by providing Electrical and Reliability Engineering support to the Polymer areas maintenance and operations organizations. These efforts will focus on establishing equipment reliability monitoring systems, and evaluating and determining the equipment & systems issues which hinder the attainment of Area equipment availability goals. Critical to success will be the determination of the causes of the issues & development/implementation of solutions utilizing Root Cause Analysis methodologies.



Responsibilities:

Monitor equipment reliability. Analyze the data and prioritize the top reliability problems and opportunities.

Assemble a team and lead the determination of the root causes and the development of the best solution(s).

Drive the implementation of the solutions through the appropriate Work Process.

Monitor the effectiveness of the corrective actions on a monthly basis.

Develop equipment maintenance strategies through the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance.

Maximize equipment availability through the use of FMECA techniques to identify critical equipment. Develop the most cost effective maintenance strategies for all system components.

Consolidate & integrate with other PPM plans to provide the most efficient use of equipment downtime for maintenance tasks.

Initiate Small Projects to implement design upgrades identified through Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs.

Develop project alternatives, scopes of work and financial justification for all small projects.

Coordinate the field implementation of small projects assuring on time, on budget completion.

Provide all small project closing documents including as-built drawings, PPM and maintenance strategies/procedures, and equipment/spare parts documentation within the site CMMS.

Provide electrical equipment, process instrumentation and control troubleshooting and expertise to the polymer areas of the site.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience and skills required:

BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering

Five years experience in electrical engineering support of variable speed drive systems, motor control centers, PLC implementation, DCS systems and process instrumentation and controls systems.

Ability to lead a cross-functional team through root cause analysis/problem solving process.

Ability to prepare and execute design packages that will improve safety, operability and reliability of the plant polymer areas.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to effectively manage multiple and ever-changing priorities and meet established deadlines.

Track record in driving continuous improvement.

High level of self-motivation, creativity and flexibility.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders.



Experience and skills preferred:

Ten years experience in electrical engineering support of variable speed drive systems, motor control centers, PLC implementation, DCS systems and process instrumentation and controls systems.

Experience in PSM and the development and management of inspection programs to insure electrical system integrity.

Experience as a participant or facilitator in Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis.
