Engineer 3 - Applications Engineer - Knoxville

Duties: Interact with potential customer to define content of Shaw proposals; interact with engineering staff for technical correctness; uses corporate CRM; provides marketing forecasting input. Receive customer communications -- inquiries, concerns, requests for service, and requests for quotation or proposal. Maintain records and files on the status of opportunities for quotation/proposal up to the point that the opportunity becomes a project or can be regarded as lost. Analyze customer problems and requests and initiate any necessary inquiries w/ Shaw personnel or external sources, e.g., vendors. Accumulate technical and commercial/pricing data pertinent to Shaw's response to the customer. Calculate pricing for materials and services to be offered, including appropriate markups. Prepare customer correspondence, proposals and quotations, and submit to the customer. Review customer purchase orders for conformity with proposals. Accomplish required tasks within deadlines which may be imposed by the customer. Provide advice and support to activities of the Engineering, Production, Field Sales and Field Service groups as needed
Requirements: 4-year degree, preferably in a technical field. Ability to write technical documents with clarity and accuracy. Ability to read and interpret technical and commercial documents - specifications, terms and conditions, contracts, etc. - with attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams. Ability to deal effectively with customers -- addressing customer concerns and encouraging customer confidence and loyalty while ethically advancing Shaw interests. Ability to collaborate effectively with others, including technical and administrative staff, in pursuit of organizational objectives. Ability to work systematically in order to make progress on multiple projects at varying stages of completion. 3-5 years on CEM 40CFR75/60 Compliance hardware and software training desired. Proficient with MS Office products and MSCRM critical.
Conditions: Work alone or in a group, travel will be rare; overtime will be frequent, demanding high volume workload.
