Job Description:
Siemens Power Generation is announcing an Engineer 2 opening, req id “43754” in their Charlotte, NC location. This position offers paid relocation assistance, a competitive compensation package along with comprehensive benefits.

This position will support the steam turbine service repair business with detailed engineering evaluations and recommendations for as-received steam turbine components. Perform the required calculations, and release engineering instructions to manufacturing to support shop schedules. Provide steam turbine service repair quote support to the marketing organization. Support steam turbine customer-order engineering and R and D by performing calculations, ensuring drawings are issued to required dates, and completing tasks within allocated budgets. Provide technical instructions to manufacturing or field for disposition of product deviations. Develop unique steam turbine repair solutions to meet customer requirements, including cost and schedule demands. These typically include weld repairs, part replacements, or component modifications. Establish associated engineering task plans. Create design specifications. Review, modify, and sign-off engineering drawings. Direct drafting personnel in day-to-day activities. Provide technical instructions to the field in support of turbine installation or troubleshooting activities. Provide technical support and leadership for root cause investigations. Support manufacturing cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
Deliver technical presentations to customers and management. Occasional work during off-hours and weekends is required to support 24/7 manufacturing operations. Ability to assess technical risk based on available data and/or calculation results.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical engineering

2+ years of experience

Experience working in an engineering department

Desired:

Experience with steam turbine components is preferred

Finite Element Analysis and Pro-E skills preferred, but not required

Stress Analysis experience

Designing and analyzing rotating equipment

Strong computer skills (UNIX or FEA software)
