Job Summary

The job of the Electrical and Instrument Engineer is to design, write projects, and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of complex electronic equipment and instrumentation and electrical systems necessary for the integrity of plant control systems.

Responsibilites include:
Working with plant personnel to analyze, troubleshoot and develop control systems and electrical circuits necessary for a manufacturing facility.
Recommending, designing and requesting funding to implement projects required to maintain and develop electronic instrumentation and electrical systems necessary for efficient plant operation.
Ensuring strict compliance with all state, city and electrical trade rules, regulations and codes. Must follow rigorous Management of Change procedure.
Developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for electronic equipment, instrumentation and electrical systems. Supporting Plant Reliability Excellence program. Developing bad actor list.
Inspecting process equipment for efficient and safe operation. Working with the Reliability Engineer to track and chart equipment performance over time.
Working with the Plant Engineer to provide help in other disciplines of engineering as able.
Issuing work orders, supplies drawings, and written and verbal instructions to both plant maintenance crews and contractors.
Troubleshooting problems (including faulty equipment and/or unusual conditions), and determining corrective action that will minimize equipment down time. Initiating and or participating in Root Cause Corrective Action Studies when needed. Auditing findings and evaluating results of actions taken.
Submiting annual capital budget requests to Plant Engineer regarding new equipment and modifications on existing equipment in order to prevent safety hazards, improve facility methods, procedures and production.
Maintaining an instrument calibration program.
Updating wiring diagrams, drawings, one lines, loop sheets, instructions and records of instrumentation installed or modified.
Forecasting obsolescence of control components. Developing plans for the upgrade of control components to prevent obsolescence.
Participating in on-call duties during off hours to ensure availability for emergency repairs & troubleshooting.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements

We are looking for someone with a minimum of three years experience working with instrumentation and electrical equipment.
Successful candidates must be proficient in electrical wiring, and pressure/vacuum, temperature and flow instrumentation.
Candidates must be able to read, write and work with drawings and specifications and possess a basic understanding of and ability to write PLC ladder logic.
Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC’s and Rockwell software is required.
Candidates must be familiar with power circuits up to 480 volts and the NEC.
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Technology is required.
Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel and Lotus Notes are required.

The following skills are preferred, but not required: Steam generation, fluid mechanics and power transmission systems knowledge.
Auto Cad drawing ability.
Proficiency with Windows based computer operating systems, software installation and troubleshooting.
