ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing the full range of environmental service including permitting compliance, development of company policies and procedures for the Region’s US Cement Terminals. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing guidance, oversight, coordination, and assistance to the Region’s US Materials business units. Reporting directly to the Director of Terminals with a strong dotted line to the Vice President, Materials the incumbent must be able to effectively liaise with and work cooperatively with environmental staff in the Region, Materials Business Unit managers and HTC environmental staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for environmental permitting and regulatory compliance matters for the Company’s US Materials Operations and Cement Terminals
• Provide assistance and support, as required to Materials business unit personnel responsible for environmental permitting and compliance and business unit managers
• Ensure that company policies and procedures, and environmental legislation and regulations are understood and complied with
• Maintain up to date files of all operations under purview of the incumbent and monitor compliance through audit procedures
• Cooperate with HTC and regional business unit environmental staff to promote best practices and continuous improvement in Company’s environmental matters
• Represent the Company with government agencies including, but not limited to regional or local quality boards, state water resources control boards, county environmental health departments and Federal agencies
• Manage implementation and maintenance of Lehigh Environmental Management Information System
REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS degree in Environmental Engineering or related field
• Five (5) years of related environmental or industry experience
• Knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements of Federal, State and local government agencies, including, but not limited to, air quality, storm water and process water control, and hazardous materials storage and spills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as facilitation and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively interact with and make presentations to employees at all organizational levels, regulatory agencies and at public hearings
• Knowledge of Federal, CA, and WA environmental and permitting legislation and regulations, and the political process
• Familiarity with Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plans (MMRPs), Reclamation plans, and the process and regulations associated with permitting new facilities such as CEQA, EIRs, and CUPs
• Familiarity with Total Quality and how to function effectively, lead and interact in a TQ environment
• Ability to travel within the Region up to 40 per cent of the time.
