ENGINEER – Technical Sales Position

National sales leader for industrial clutches and brakes is expanding into the Chicago territory and seeks a degreed mechanical engineer ( BSME or BME ) with sales acumen to operate a sales office in greater Chicago, with coverage extending into surrounding areas. The new location will be added to existing operations in Cincinnati, Detroit, Cleveland and Atlanta.Responsibilities will include customer contact, application engineering and product specification, vendor relations and future management of other sales personnel. Product training and joint sales calls with experienced engineers will be provided initially and as required for the first year.The territory has existing business exceeding $2 million with significant growth potential given the proper sales effort and support. Principal markets include primary steel and paper, metalforming, mining, steel processing, paper converting and material handling.In existence since 1949, the company’s strategy incorporates the principle of high technical competence in the products offered to the market, and attributes its sales ranking to this and excellent field support. The company’s principal shareholders are engineers.The position offers a competitive salary with generous benefits. Six-figure compensation within 2 years is management’s goal for the chosen candidate.
