EMR System Analyst
Systems Analyst We are looking for an EMR System Analyst to join our team. The Systems Analyst defines the requirements and computer solutions to resolve business-related problems or to meet strategic organizational goals. This individual serves in a lead role in the selection, implementation and support of Information Technology and Systems.
He/she enables St. Vincent Hospital in achieving the maximum benefit from its investment in equipment, personnel and business processes. This process may include planning and developing new computer systems or devising ways to apply existing system resources to additional operations.
He/she designs and implements new systems, including both hardware and software, or adding new software applications or functionality to existing computer systems.
This individual assumes a Project Management role for assigned projects; and plans, schedules and allocates resources, tracks and monitors progress toward the completion of assigned project tasks and milestones.
In addition, he/she supports critical software information requirements and is on call for problem resolution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identifies, defines, documents and communicates user and functional requirements, including any related requirements for necessary computer software, hardware, data storage and retention, or workflow and business process changes.
Performs necessary investigation, analysis and evaluation to determine project feasibility.
Develops project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth, including the development of alternatives and recommendations for new acquisitions or changes to existing applications or equipment.
Analyzes, charts, and/or diagrams the problem to be resolved and define project requirements.
Establish the overall and/or detailed design specifications and development schedules for a system or application.
Provides advice and expertise regarding possible Information Systems solutions, including alternatives, impacts, costs, benefits, and recommendations.
Develops or assists in the development of work plans, training materials, task sequencing, resource allocation and task dependencies.
Estimates project resource requirements for analysts, programmers, user personnel, consultants, educators, equipment, etc. Creates project plans, timelines, milestones, user approvals, charts and reports for use in managing an assigned project.
Develops time schedules, conversion, and test procedures for all aspects of a system implementation, from manual handling through computer processing.
Ensures the success of assigned projects by the use of conventional project management methodologies, including the completion of tasks, milestones, user approvals, project meetings and issue escalation.
Provides technical supervision to assigned staff, as required by the needs of specific projects.
Applies appropriate programming languages, report generators, application generators, utilities and other tools to complete assigned tasks.
Develops new automated approaches to current systems and/or procedures in assigned areas.
Plans independently the full range of programming actions needed to achieve desired end-results on complex problems.
Configures, maintains and updates databases, applications, operations tools and utilities in order to guarantee the successful operation of the application or system.
Prepares and maintains documentation, including system specifications, technical documentation, computer training materials and user manuals.
Acts as a liaison between the user departments and IS.
Manages vendors and consultants; evaluates vendors and products; prepares feasibility studies; recommends and establishes program objectives, priorities and schedules.
Ability to prioritize independently, multiple requests and system requirements to meet the organizational goals.
Serves as the system administrator for assigned applications and monitor program activities.
Organizes and conducts end-user training, as needed, for assigned applications.
Job Requirements
Degree in business computing, computer science or a related health care degree or relevant experience.
Successful Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation and process/workflow is required.
Knowledge of one of the following practice areas is required: Surgery, Pediatrics, Family Practice.
Experience in NextGen-specific EPM and EMR implementations is desired.
