The University of Maryland College Park seeks an Electrical Inspector with campus-wide responsibility to insure building electrical systems meet code and are designed and constructed to meet campus needs in a safe manner. Responsible for support of project development and construction by evaluating and testing electrical systems and equipment, and identifying renovation and/or replacement needs. Investigates and analyzes building electrical systems and supports new system designs. Provides electrical support and contractor oversight for design, construction and maintenance activities.
MIN I MUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education : High School Diploma or G.E.D. Maryland State Master Electrician's License required. Electrical Inspector's Certificate from the State of Maryland Fire Marshall required within 6 months from date of hire as condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Maryland Class C Driver's license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points. Experience/Skills : Seven years experience in related work. Must know codes, products and best current practices in the installation of electrical systems. Skill and experience in constructing and working with building electrical distribution systems up to 480 volts required. Experience with high voltage (13,800 volts) distribution is desired. Must be an effective communicator, both orally and in written form. Must have the ability to use computers and be adept at using word processing and spreadsheet software. AutoCAD experience desired. SALARY/ BENEFITS : UM offers an excellent benefits package including health insurance, tuition remission, retirement, 25 days of leave, 14 holidays and 15 sick days; salary range mid 50's to mid 60's, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
