EHS/Engineering Site Manager - Contract to Hire
Great contract opportunity. This position is anticipated to last through December 2006 and might lead to a permanent hire. Provide EHS technical consulting & project management on projects for the company operations worldwide based on the customer’s needs. Utilize familiarity with the company operations to resolve EHS issues in a manner that integrates both the company’s business and EHS goals and objectives. This position reports to the Manager, Environmental, and Engineering Services group. Supports corporate and group EHS directors, to provide engineering solutions to EHS problems and issues at the facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provides consulting and hands-on engineering expertise to internal customers to resolve their EHS issues. This could involve taking over complete responsibility for a project or working as part of a project team, based on the customer’s needs.
•Develop, project specifications for EHS engineering projects in a manner that fosters a consistent level of EHS performance across operating groups and throughout the corporation.
• Work with customers to ensure compliance with (Federal) national, (State) regional and local EHS regulations as well as corporate policy.
•Conducts equipment and process evaluations; develops specifications and work closely with vendors and external consultants in order to provide cost effective solutions for EHS issues.
• Provide project closure documentation.
•Determines the necessary resources (internal and external) to achieve the desired project results.
•Manage and track project costs and schedules to insure project objectives are met on time and within budget. Typical budgets range from $500,000 to $1,500,000, with a duration from 6 months to 3 years.
•Support EHS Corporate Services strategy by helping to develop program material, training material etc.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
• BS in an engineering or science discipline.
•5-8 years environmental engineering experience in an industrial setting.
• Quantifiable experience in some of the following areas desired: Soil/groundwater remediation, air abatement equipment selection & installation, waste water management, environmental permitting, environmental site assessment, construction project management, environmental remediation project management.
•Willingness to travel extensively nationally & internationally of approx. 30% - 50% of time.
•Have or be actively pursuing professional certification such as a QEP, CIH, CSP or PE.
Special Skills and Abilities
•Cross functional knowledge of EHS regulations, and standard construction codes nationally and internationally and be familiar with facility and manufacturing operations.
•Ability to manage multiple projects with moderate supervision and minimal support staff.
•Good communication skills to work with Avery management at all levels.
•Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Lotus Notes and CAD.
