E05112- Radiation (RHA) Engineer

Act as lead radiation effects (subsystem) engineer for flight projects. Incumbent is responsible for evaluating radiation effects requirements and determining radiation test applicability for candidate electronics as they apply to spacecraft operation and reliability. Additionally, the incumbent interacts with multi-disciplinary experts for radiation physics (environment analyses and performance prediction) and parts engineering in support of this function. End products include presentations, analyses, and technical reports. Coordinates radiation testing at a project level and develops test plans for radiation testing of components. Assumes a leadership role in the development of test reports based on radiation experiments. Supports branch radiation effects websites for inclusion of accurate data. Coordinates with other engineers, physicists, and technicians in periodic reviews to ensure that all areas of overlapping responsibilities are covered. Support branch data dissemination to the aerospace community including research project reviews, conferences, and technical interchange meetings (TIMs). May require other duties as assigned. Must have US Citizenship A commensurate degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in a related technical field such as EE, nuclear engineering, physics, etc. is required. Rasiation (RHA) Hardness Assurance Engineer Incumbent must be familiar with the design of electrical spacecraft systems and the implementation of RHA for the natural space environment. This includes understanding the environment, modeling and interpretation of the environment, understanding of radiation test requirements and performance, mitigation approaches, and system level risk analyses. Knowledge of radiation effects on electronics is required for both RHA and test responsibilities.
