Director of Environmental Compliance

The director will (1) facilitate a company wide environmental risk assessment process; (2) facilitate the development of company wide environmental compliance mitigation plans (3) develop environmental compliance training and certification processes as required by the federal and state law; (4) develop comp monitoring and audit programs to assess the effectiveness of the company’s environmental compliance program; (5) collaborate with merchandising to fulfill the product needs of our customers that aid Wal-Marts compliance program and promote sustainability; (6) benchmark the company’s environmental compliance programs; and (7) collaborate with the company’s operating divisions to seek opportunities to ‘go beyond’ compliance.



job Requirements


REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences or J.D. with significant environmental coursework
• Minimum of 10 years of Environmental Regulatory Experience.
• Experience in interpreting and/or implementing federal and state environmental compliance requirements.
• Experience in developing strategies to meet environmental requirements, developing assessments and audit protocols for environmental compliance programs, establishing performance measures, tracking progress, and developing corrective measures including training.
• Experience In identifying and communicating rapidly changing environmental regulatory requirements. Experience in communicating with diverse stakeholders regarding progress in environmental matters
• Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.


ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in negotiating environmental permits, environmental compliance orders and environmental consent decrees in California.
• Experience in assessing and auditing environmental compliance programs, establishing performance
measures, tracking progress, and developing corrective training as needed.
• Experience in building cross functional relationships to accomplish program objectives.
• Ability to work autonomously, in an unstructured environment, with ability to adapt to change.
