Director, Hardware Engineering

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Directs the design, development, implementation and support of all engineering projects and products. Plans projects and supervises a small engineering staff including internal and external designers and engineers. This hands-on position requires significant current professional experience in microprocessor based design, schematic capture, PWB layout and embedded firmware design and development. The successful candidate is expected to participate in and contribute to the design and development process. This position reports to the CTO.


Supervisor Responsibilities:

Directs and controls the activities of the hardware development team, develops and manages project schedules to time and budget. Interfaces with external design and engineering agencies and provides technical product support. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s guidelines, procedures and policies and applicable laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Review and approve engineering requests for process and product specification changes.

· Establishes engineering quality standards, methods, policies and procedures.

· Reviews production plan by coordinating requirements with sales, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing.

· Maintains engineering results by coaching; counseling, and disciplining employees; planning; monitoring; appraising job results.

· Provide design expertise to support product development and support.

· Insure that designs support requirements.

· Participates in design and development activities and contributes

· Provides engineering support for products.

Requirements:

8 to 10 years of hands-on PWB design experience

BS in EE, MS EE preferred

Embedded code development using C and assembler

Experience leading small development teams

Exceptional design skills

Exceptional problem solving skills

Right to Work in USA – No Visa support will be offered

Excellent spoken and written English skills

FCC ISM experience a plus

Embedded GPRS & TCP/IP experience a plus
