Director - Enterprise Desktop Engineering
Our Client seeks an experienced leader to manage a global team of Desktop & Server engineers to analyze, architect, design, build, deploy, into production environments. The successful candidate will also lead the effort in Large-scale enterprise server design as well as complex system deployments and migration planning projects. Architect, design, and plan for enterprise deployments utilizing Windows 2000 or XP Professional, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and/or Exchange 2000.
Provide in-depth technical expertise on large-scale infrastructure projects for global initiatives. Collaborate with other senior members of the IT team to develop and successfully implement forward looking IT strategies and coherent tactics.
Responsible for continuously re-evaluating the IT processes and plans to adjust for new information, changing risks, shifting priorities, and schedules.
Provide vision and direction to improve process reliability, performance and service level agreements.
Develop and manage relationships with external partners and vendors.
Take ownership and responsibility for the continuous uptime for software updates, pushes, patches, and server backups.
Rapidly respond to MS Desktop server, Engineering Architecture and Infrastructure, and other operational business issues.
Generate options and recommendations for the best course of action for both big and small initiatives given time to market, resource availability and other conflicting issues.
Ensure that best practices, performance and functionality of system releases meet or exceeds business goals.
Responsible for ensuring that platform and operational processes are appropriately documented.
Work with internal cross-functional teams and external technology partners to prioritize, estimate and complete projects in support of business needs.
Develop a strong understanding of the business model and opportunities and threats that these constituents face and will align IT strategies and tactics around these needs.
Lead the global teams forward, fully reconciled, in cases when the best technical solution must be compromised for compelling business reasons. Mentor and manage engineers and managers (Production Network, Servers and Operations).
REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field. MS / MBA is a plus. 10+ years of industry experience.
8+ years of managing and leading an IT team in the planning, engineering, building and maintenance of a large, complex Microsoft/Open System network. Experience with high volume on-line (24/7/365) SQL Databases.
Expert knowledge in Microsoft Technologies:
•OS Software: In-depth knowledge of current and pending Microsoft Windows operating systems and other operating system knowledge.
•Server Products: In-depth knowledge of several Microsoft server-based products (e.g. SQL Server 2000 Enterprise, IIS, Exchange 2000 Enterprise, Sharepoint).
•Networking: Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including the principles of network routing and client/server programming.
•Applications: Proficient in the use of the current suite MS Office productivity tools (e.g. Office 2000/XP, Project 2000/2002, Visio 2000/2002 Pro) Expertise in distributed desktop systems – (Initial Implementation, Prototyping, and Product Deployment).
Ability to demonstrate successes in post implementation phases of multinational distributed desktop environments.
Demonstrated expertise in Active Directory, SMS, Scripting and clustering.
Strong production support and deployment tools experience (server management, server monitoring, security, scheduling, backup/failover*)
Must have a history of applying processes and practices to deliver enterprise business driven solutions.
