Design Checker

Responsible for checking engineering projects within the systems group from a design and drafting standards standpoint; from systems integration to installations. Shall support engineering design and development of aircraft installation packages based on customers and OEM’s requirements for production and retrofit applications. Shall perform engineering design/check assignments under the direction of CAD/Checking Supervisor, Systems/Senior Engineers and Management.


Requirements:

Check engineering projects from a mechanical/structural/wiring and integration design standpoint under the direction of CAD/Checking Supervisor, Systems/Senior Engineers and Management. Provide inputs to engineering and drafting staff for systems design criteria and standards to support aircraft installations. Provide guidance and direction for problem solving to engineering and drafting staff on engineering and drafting standards. Act as focal for drafting/engineering standards. Play key role in adherence to AS9100, ANSI, DOD100 and Global design/drafting standards. Documentation to be checked includes but is not limited to; aircraft mechanical design, structural installations, wiring installations, wiring diagrams, cable assemblies/harnesses, detailed assemblies and structures, internal specification and internal standards documents. Support internal departments and coordinate with external design engineering groups at request. Support development of internal drawing/document standards per customer or regulatory agency requirements. Support design and drawings utilizing Auto CAD and/or other design drafting software tools to aid engineering efforts. Working knowledge of Windows based computers. Must have excellent communication and written skills. Must have high degree of understanding of aircraft terms and design requirements. Must be able to work in a team environment and accept required roles and responsibilities. Must have ability to work independently and be assertive.
Prefer an AS or AA degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Avionics Industry. Five years for non-degreed individuals.
