Database Administrator – Full Time – Seattle

The company provides electronic notification of government sales opportunities and government contracts. In 2005, they published 744,971 advance notices, government bids, quotes, RFPs and award notifications to more than 17,000 businesses across the United States.

They are seeking a Database Administrator to join the Database Operations group. You should have an understanding of database administration and development in Microsoft SQL Server environment.



Your main responsibilities will be to assist in the installations and upgrades for database environments. Review database code for adherence to standards and best practices. Review SQL Server and Systems configurations and make recommendations for improvement. Help monitor transaction log shipping to various disaster recovery and reporting servers. Help maintain overall data integrity. Assist in the research and resolution of technical issues raised by the development staff and/or end users. Develop process documentation. Work with Production Engineering to design, implement and support near real-time monitoring of systems to ensure SLAs are met.
REQUIREMENTS




DTS experience required.
Knowledge of T-SQL required.
Experience with MS SQL Backup and Restore functionality required.
Experience with MS SQL Job creation, management and maintenance required.
Cluster management experience preferred.
Experience with EMC Arrays preferred.
SQL Server 2005 experience preferred.
SQL Server 2005 migration experience preferred.
Data Warehouse experience preferred.
Experience with Reporting Services and Analysis Services preferred.
Experience with ASP, .Net and/or Perl a plus.
Knowledge of C# and VBScript a plus.

Education/Experience/Certifications

At least four years of experience performing SQL Server administration required. Candidates who have completed a college degree are preferred.
