A fast-paced, Internet company in Chicago is seeking an experienced and highly skilled database administrator (DBA). We are a technology focused online business that offers career growth and exciting challenges. Our environment is casual and “non-corporate” and we would like someone with a keen sense of online business and marketing. We need someone with strong DBA skills, to include writing stored procedures and triggers, performing system backups and restores, monitoring system performance, and performing system improvement tasks.
Responsibilities:
•Design, maintain and build logical and physical database models.
•Perform routine maintenance on databases.
•Optimize and performance tune schemas and queries.
•Plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance.
•Develop stored procedures and queries.
•Design and implement data warehousing and data archiving strategies.
•Actively participate in the requirements specification process with project teams to help define technical requirements, scope, and limitations.
•Design and implement backup and recovery plans.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates will have:
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
•5+ years of database administration experience.
•Extensive background with any of the following: Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, or MYSQL.
•Experience with stored procedures, triggers, system backups and restores.
•Background with Linux or UNIX as well as PHP, ASP, or other web development is a plus.
•Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
•Self-motivated and able to work independently.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
