Data Warehouse Project Lead

ProLogic is currently seeking to fill the position Data Warehouse Project Lead in Pittsburgh, PA. The incumbent will be responsible for defining, developing, piloting and implementing a data warehouse (DW) solution for the Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). The incumbent will work closely with and under the direction of the NETL Enterprise Architect for providing an integrated and scalable solution that is comprehensive, flexible, and secure, and, that will empower NETL to integrate and leverage data and knowledge resources to achieve superior operational performance.
This incumbent requires in depth business knowledge, systems analysis skills, creative design capabilities and the ability to apply relevant technology to deliver innovative, robust, and scalable decision support solutions for NETL.

The responsibilities of the incumbent include, but are not limited to:
•Evaluating and selecting data warehouse vendors
•Defining and documenting user requirements
•Defining user interfaces
•Developing data warehouse specifications
•Developing and implementing data acquisition and data integration strategies
•Extracting customer data from existing data stores
•Ensuring data quality and reliability
•Organizing and loading data into the data warehouse
•Implementing business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies
•Working closely with mid-level and upper management users to leverage the use of data through value-added services such as decision support, dashboards, data mining, and knowledge discovery

Performing project management functions that include, but are not limited to: developing project plans, analyzing existing COTS/GOTS solutions, assisting with the evaluation of hardware and software vendors, managing development activities, implementing quality assurance and quality control activities, coordinating third-party providers such as consultants and vendors, conducting customer meetings and ensuring customer relationships, validating requirements, obtaining customer sign-offs and acceptance, and ensuring the timely delivery and completion of all project commitments

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum work experience/skills required/preferred:
•Minimum of seven years experience in a medium to large-scale multi-dimensional data warehouse environment performing analysis, documentation, design, programming, project management and quality assurance/control activities.
•Must have exceptional relational database experience in Oracle and/or MS SQL with demonstrable skills in data modeling and design techniques such as entity-relationship and multi-dimensional schemas. Must have experience and skills in data modeling tools and analysis techniques (e.g., OLAP, MOLAP, ROLAP).
•Must have a strong understanding of project management methods, tools and techniques; leading internal and external teams; and general problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal). PMP certification is desirable. Must have managed the development of at least one mission-critical data warehouse project from pilot through to full deployment and support.
•Preferred: Candidates with a solid understanding of business principles as well as proficiency in a broad array of technical skills including, operating systems, networking, databases, data structures, and commercial application development will be preferred.

Minimum education and training required/preferred:
•Minimum Bachelor’s degree with specialization in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Management Information Systems.
•Preferred: Candidates with certification and/or formal education and/or training in data warehouse design and implementation, developing ETL solutions, data reporting tools will be preferred.
