Job Title:Critical Systems Controls Engineer




Essential Functions:

- Implement improvements to the processes within the Critical Systems area for increased efficiency and optimum performance.-Support the digital control systems related to Critical Systems. The support includes, but is not limited to, the trouble-shooting and debugging of ladder logic and scripts, devices, networking, man machine interfaces, and single loop controllers.-As required, develop functional specifications, design and implement control system upgrades and prepare documentation and protocols for validations.-Prepare requisitions for the purchase of capital equipment and contract services.-Perform investigative tests and feasibility studies.-Supervise and direct contract personnel and outside vendors in the performance of contracted services.-Provide training and guidance to Plant Systems operations and maintenance staff as related to control logic modifications.-Administer the computer controls and security procedures as per 21 CFR Part 11 for Plant Systems control system processes.-Manage capital improvement projects from the initial concept state through completion.-Provide support for data management and the control and monitoring of equipment as required for compliance to environmental agency permits and conditions.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Training/Education/CertificationRequired: BS degree in electrical engineering. At least 5 years experience in Automation Controls design/modification in a high volume manufacturing environment. Must be able to understand, analyze and trouble?shoot complex electrical systems and control schemes. PLC programming and control system design experience required. Experience in capital appropriation evaluation and analysis and project management preferred. Good interpersonal skills are required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desired: BS degree in Engineering with at least 7 years experience in a Controls Engineering position or related field. KnowledgeDemonstrated knowledge within specialty area(s). Understanding of manufacturing methods related to the automation field. GMP knowledge applicable to the individual’s specialty area(s). Software packages such as project management, spreadsheets, word processors and packages unique to the individual’s specialty area(s). Skills/AbilitiesUse of computer and peripherals related to the specialty area. Communication skills, both verbal and written commensurate with dealings at the middle management level. Preparation of RCIs. Ability to work with vendors to develop work schedules and tasks, and establish vendor and project priorities.Project management skills needed to run small to medium size projects. Ability to work independently, as a team member and/or team leader. Ability to analyze, investigate and propose approaches to technical issues within the individual’s specialty area(s). Leadership and team management skills.
