CORPORATE PROCESS SAFETY MANAGEMENT ENGINEERWestlake Chemical Corporation is a manufacturer and marketer of petrochemicals and fabricated products located at sites throughout the US and Canada. With headquarters in Houston, Texas, the company's range of products includes ethylene, polyethylene, styrene, vinyl intermediates, PVC, as well as PVC pipe, windows and fence. We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced PSM Engineer located at our corporate offices in Houston.
SUMMARYReporting to the Corporate HSE Director, this position will function as the corporate lead for Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and initiatives. This will include developing goals, standards and expectations for the corporate-wide PSM programs and activities; performing evaluations, establishing and coordinating audits of site(s) to determine compliance with PSM program and manages systems to follow-up and verify improvements; also providing advice, counsel and technical experience to operations and corporate management regarding PSM and mentors field PSM engineers and coordinators.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESServes as the corporate lead for the Company’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program and initiatives with the goal of continuous reduction of process safety risk.Works with Corporate Director of HSE, executive management, senior manufacturing management and field personnel to develop corporate goals, standards, policies, and expectations regarding the Company’s PSM program and acts as an advisory to management in this regard.Understands and periodically reviews the Mechanical Integrity (MI) and Reliability programs at the chemical plants and provides guidance and recommendations for program improvements.Works with the chemical plants to implement Corporate-wide standards of performance relative to PSM.Maintains currency of MI technologies and best practices and transfers that knowledge to the plants.
Understands and periodically reviews the Company’s Process Hazard Review (PHA) program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.Understands and periodically reviews the Company’s Management of Change (MOC) program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.Understands and periodically reviews the Company’s Incident Investigation program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.Understands and periodically reviews the Company’s Facility Siting process and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.Serves as the regulatory expert for PSM regulations.Analyzes Corporate-wide data to discover trends in PSM program performance.Helps to provide training and mentorship to other PSM and related professionals throughout the company.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEBachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Twelve to fifteen years experience working in chemical/petrochemical/refinery environmentMinimum of five - eight years experience in Process Safety ManagementPreference for prior PSM leadership responsibilityWestlake offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
