Configuration Mgmt. Analyst

The mandate of the Information Technology Department is to cost-effectively operate the Front Office, Back Office, Office Automation, computer systems and networks to ensure that staff's ability to service clients is maximized and also provide IT support and guidance to all user departments.The Configuration Management Analyst is responsible for the coordination and verification of all software and hardware changes to the QA and Production environments. They will facilitate the change, authorization, and communication process for all migrations from development to QA to production in a formalized promotion process. This position is associated with the Configuration Management aspects of software development. The candidate should have an understanding of SEI-CMM and ITIL processes and how they relate to the development and implementation of software design, development, implementation and deployment. Candidate must have oral and written communication skills and have experience in developing configuration management documentation. Candidate should be familiar with the development of functional evaluation metrics
Maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. Performs configuration and release management tasks to ensure software and hardware operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable. Implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. May develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
Verify proper implementation of releases using Configuration Management software (Tripwire)
Verify configuration management activities are being adhered to by ING Development teams.
Coordinate with software engineers/web developers/data base administrators/application support to check out current versions of code/hardware configurations and to ensure modified code meets requirements for release to production and to maintain release history
Insure all required SDLC documentation is completed for every release.
Provide backup to the Release Analyst (Manage activities for modifying and maintaining the Change Control Request system)
Developing and maintaining installation programs, maintaining and running build scripts, maintaining the configuration of the release, and generating metrics
Confer with senior management and staff on policies and procedures, technical problems, and priorities that relate to configuration management
REQUIREMENTS
* Extensive experience with Software Configuration Management concepts and practices.
Experience with managing Configuration Items (CI) in a CMDB through their life cycle.
Experience with change control processes and risk assessments.
Strong understanding of software lifecycles and development methodologies and ability to effectively manage/prioritize concurrent projects and tasks with minimal direction is expected.
Understanding of CMMI or similar process maturity models a plus.
Willingness to be on-call when necessary during occasional project windows is also expected.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills in addition to analysis and problem solving skills are required for this position.
Strong documentation skills.
Proven experience with CM status accounting and managing audits.
Must exhibit initiative and creativity; commitment to excellence and quality is a prerequisiteEducation and/or Certifications:
University degree in computer scienceTechnical skills and abilities:
Must possess excellent customer service skills and a can-do attitude.
A minimum of two years experience with Configuration Management software is requiredWorking Conditions:
