Computational Nuclear Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: *Adapt computational methods of multi-phase thermal-hydraulics to novel solutions for problems in reactor simulation.
Responsible for technical development projects within GE Energy's Nuclear business related to advanced reactor core simulation and analysis.
Work as part of a methods development team in implementing the next generation of analysis tools for modeling the steady-state and transient behavior of current and new reactor designs, especially as it relates to advanced fuel designs.
Prepare and conduct business reviews to GE staff, integrating with overall GE Energy strategies.
Responsibilities include all activities related to development of software simulation tools including: software documentation and validation, user training, and customer interfacing.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: *M.S. in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years experience in performing nuclear methods and software development
Demonstrated experience in developing multi-phase thermal-hydraulics models for nuclear reactor analysis.
Detailed knowledge of the subject areas of coupled neutronic and thermal-hydraulic modeling and numerical methods.
Scientific programming experience in FORTRAN.Desired: *Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or closely related discipline
Industry experience in BWR nuclear core design, operation, or management.
Experience with methods of computational fluid dynamics
Work with nuclear utilities and/or NRC.
Publication of technical articles and/or patent applications.
Project leadership experience.
Greenbelt Certified (GE only).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must work easily and communicate effectively within a team environment.General: *This position is located in Wilmington, N.C.; relocation will be provided.
