Coating Engineer

Develop, identify, implement, and test web handling / processing technologies in Imation’s pilot and production coating & converting facilities.

Identify, develop, and design web handling / processing opportunities that will improve magnetic media quality / reduce

Cost

Resolve issues with current coating equipment / web handling / processing technologies in production facilities.

Quantify performance of alternative & advanced web handling / processing technologies

Coordinate implementation & validation of web handling / processing technologies in pilot & production facilities.

Approximately 25% travel required.

Provide technical leadership for the design, development, execution and implementation of web handling / processing

Projects in pilot & production coating & converting facilities.

Compile technical documentation for process change

Provide technical direction for designers and maintenance staff
REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidate will have significant experience and expertise in thin film web handling and processing.

Expertise in thin web processing / coating equipment design & application.

In depth knowledge of thin web handling / processing technology (winding, steering, calendering, coating, drying, slitting,

Etc. of < 30 gauge film)

Fluency with mechanical documentation

Mechanical problem solving

Project management

Knowledge of CAD (Unigraphics preferred)

Knowledge of PI&C (process tuning, FFT analysis, etc.)

Design of experiments and data analysis.

Strong written and oral communication

Highly motivated, self-starter.

Must be a strong team player.

Bachelors Degree - Required (Engineering-- Mechanical)
Masters Degree - Preferred (Engineering-- Mechanical)
Doctorate Degree - Preferred (Engineering-- Mechanical)
