This position is charged with ensuring all MBO imaging modalities that will be placed into the PACS environment are fully DICOM compliant and if applicable, meet IHE standards.The position will also serve as a key resource on the PACS project readiness, design and implementation teams that are being established through the CHI Medical Imaging Services program (“MIS program”).1. Defines and maintains the processes for completing modality assessments to support overall PACS assessment effort, and for upgrading modalities to required levels of DICOM compatibility in conjunction with PACS installation effort2. Evaluate DICOM capabilities of all imaging modalities. Work with MBO clinical engineering manager and radiology director to assess and document imaging modality model number, SW version, serial number and other characteristics. Initially complete this task for all MBOs that will be initiating PACS in FY06 and FY07 with the MIS. Expand to include a database that includes all other MBOs that will implement PACS beyond FY07.3. Document upgrade path alternatives for bringing MBO modalities operational in the PACS environment. Alternatives may be obtained from original equipment manufacturer (“OEM”) or third party vendors. Must achieve the following capabilities: DICOM store, DICOM modality worklist, DICOM print, DICOM query and retrieve, DICOM storage commitment and DICOM perform procedure step. Initial cost estimates obtained. Aggregate in a database individually and as a group for all projected needs for upcoming fiscal year PACS project. Excel or Access format4. Negotiate group pricing with national OEMs as well as third party vendors. Approach several vendors with request for national pricing based on aggregated volumes. Complete contracts as needed. If possible, take group buy approach with a commitment on specific volumes. Present alternatives to MBOs through the PACS readiness assessment process. Work with MBO staff to select best upgrade path based on cost, budget and functionality requirements5. Work with local CE staff on implementation of DICOM upgrade solutions. Coordinate upgrades with vendor based on PACS implementation requirements. Complete service contracts for upgrades if needed.6. Trains local CE staff on DICOM assessment and integration processes to ensure local CE staff is self-sufficient in support of moves, adds and changes to modalities following the PACS implementation effort.7. Provide general support to the Medical Imaging Service group. Serve in support role during the readiness assessment and implementation phases for PACS. Serve as a technical resource with evaluating network, storage, and integration requirements. Also provide assistance with operational assessments.
Provide implementation and testing support. Report progress on all assigned PACS assessment and installation project tasks per direction of project manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have seven years or more experience managing service of imaging modalities.Five or more years experience with integrating modalities to PACS systems is preferred.Two year degree required.Benefits
