Chemical Engineer, Sr.

Proton Energy Systems, Inc. designs, develops, and manufactures Proton Exchange Membrane, or PEM, electrochemical products that it employs in hydrogen generating devices and in regenerative fuel cell systems that function as power generating and energy storage devices. Proton's HOGEN(R) hydrogen generators produce hydrogen from electricity and water in a clean and efficient process using its proprietary PEM technology.

Located in a new 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Wallingford, CT, we are in South Central Connecticut, with easy access to both New York City and Boston. Position Summary:
Conducts research to support the development of electrochemical products by directing and coordinating activities involved in the characterization, operation, and repair of electrochemical components and systems by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:
•Plans and conducts complex research experiments to test, prove, or modify theoretical hypotheses based on findings and experiences of others researching in related technical areas.
•Directs and coordinates failure analysis and root cause determination of electrochemical components and subsystems.
•Communicates effectively with other engineers and keep items concurrently organized with rest of research and development efforts.
•Works across engineering and manufacturing departments to support product engineering and product manufacturing.
•Experience working with electrocatalysts and proton conducting membranes is desired.
•Capable of working well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
•Five years experience
•Electrochemical modeling/cell design experience
•Familiarity with ISO quality management process
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
•Motivated self-starter; desire to learn.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to balance multiple tasks.
Education and/or Experience:
MS in Chemical/Electrochemical Engineering, PhD preferred.
