Batch Engineer

Batch engineer needed to develop, implement, monitor, support, troubleshoot, and optimize JPMorganChase Investment Management production Batch Processes. Knowledge and understanding of each layer is a critical factor for success. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to fully use and apply standard technical organization and troubleshooting principles. Must have the ability to work on projects and other assignments with minimal direct supervision. Familiarity with financial instruments and portfolio management is highly desirable.



Responsibilities



Perform 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level incident resolution of production batch issues.

Maintain incident resolution documentation to allow for quick resolution of future Batch issues.

Perform problem resolution activities to implement permanent resolution for recurring incidents.

Work with assigned project teams to develop, document, and implement batch process within the production environment.

  Work with the Batch team to develop, maintain, and optimize appropriate Batch support architecture that sustains JPMorganChase's high standards of availability and performance.

Interface with the Line of Business (LOB) personnel, LOB-aligned Application Service Delivery teams, internal technology teams, and external business partners.

Responsible for working with and coordinating the necessary development and technical teams to solve performance, stability, and monitoring issues within Batch processes.

Additional duties as required.


REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.

Experience with the use and capabilities of BMC Control-M Enterprise scheduling software.

  Three to five years of production support experience related to Batch processing within Unix (Required), Windows (Required), and VMS (Preferred) environments.

Excellent knowledge of modern software operating systems and experience in building modular distributed batch processes.

Knowledge and experience with application servers and middleware tools required

Experience with Sybase, Oracle, or Microsoft databases.

PERL scripting experience.

Experience with data management and validation.

Strong research, investigation and evaluation skills.

Effective skill and experience regarding system behavior and resolution.

Strong system analytic ability and practices.

Experience with successful implementations of highly scalable and highly available systems in a n-tier environment.

Ability to identify and clearly communicate 'patterns' in problem/support requests, in order to influence the prioritization of production bug fixes.

Proven ability as a member of a team and able to communicate technical and production-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.

Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment that includes a global focus.

Experience with disaster recovery concepts, planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning, and contingency planning.
