Aviation Software & Systems Engineer

Purpose: Position Summary: Support successful conception, development, simulation, testing and maintenance of sophisticated avionics systems including, but not limited to, attitude heading references systems (AHRS) and air data computers (ADC). Responsibilities include low-level sensor evaluation, algorithm development, and significant embedded software implementation and testing.

Essential Functions:

Research emerging sensor technologies and develop new algorithmic approaches which have potential to provide a competitive advantage for avionics systems.
Design, implement and test embedded software for various avionics systems.
Participate in support and eminence of fielded systems numbering in the thousands.
Participate in product design activities including electrical, software, or mechanical development.


Other Responsibilities

Participate in recruiting and mentoring new associates who will participate in advanced research and development efforts
Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Excellent academics (composite GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Masters or PhD in Aerospace, Software or Electrical Engineering from a college or university, or above/equivalent education or experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Dynamics and control theory
Inertial sensors and navigation
2+ years experience with C/C++ programming
2+ years experience with Matlab/simulink


Desirable Qualifications

Experience with RTCA DO-178B software certification testing procedures is a plus
