This is a unique opportunity to join a team focused on an exciting

segment. This position will provide you with an
opportunity to work with a dynamic thought leadership team. You will be
able to combine your skills/interests in technology, research,
math, marketing and written communication to provide a
professional design tool to create delighted
customers.
The Availability Analyst
is responsible for developing and maintaining Total Cost of Ownership
tool employed by the Sales Force and customers in modeling data Center
designs and equipment selections. These TCO tools are an
essential part of the APC value proposition to be used to evaluate
costs of both hypothetical and actual installtions. These tools
are true professional design tools and not simply marketing tools.
Using availability models, market data, APC and competitors literature
and estimating tools (such as Means Construction estimating software),
the analyst will support APC customers in developing costing models and
options based on the availability they hope to achieve in data center
designs. With the White Paper team, the analyst will produce
related white papers, power points, instructional documentation and
case studies demonstrating the viability and accuracy of the model, as
well as "how to use" guidelines. The analyst will provide
instruction, hands-on demonstrations and web-based tutorials to
facilitate the broad acceptance of the Total Cost of Ownership (TC)
tool by the sales force and APC customers. The editing and
maintenance of the electrical Total Cost of Ownership tool is a prime
responsibility, and from lessons learned in the development and
implementation of that tool, the analyst will be expected to develop
corresponding TCO tools for air conditioning products and other APC
products as they are brought on line. The position will
answer to the manager of the White Paper team and work closely and
accept direction from the CTO of APC.
Essential functions
include: survey and maintain a library of customer costing
literature; survey and maintain documentation of APC costing
literature; survey and employ generally accepted construction and
operational costs associated with employing critical power equipment
(power and air products) in data center environments; employ data from
surveys and research to develop accurate, easy-to-use computations
tools employed in Total Cost of Ownership calculators; maintain the
total Cost of Ownership tools developed, updating assumptions and cost
factors as required to assure ongoing accuracy; develop training tools
for the sales force and customers to facilitate the wide use and
acceptance of the tools in APC marketing efforts; provide classroom,
demonstrations, tutorials and hands-on instruction to users of the TCO
tool as required to assure it is used accurately and effectively;
produce white papers supporting the TCO tool, related availability
considerations and other application related literature.
Bachelor's
Degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as electrical,
mechanical or industrial engineering; strong background in
mathematics and excellent technical writing skills are
essential. 0 to 2 years experience in data center
development, design, construction operations or engineering.
Excellent communication skills, creative problem solving,
customer focus and ability to thrive in a fast
paced environment are keys to success. Salary and title
will be commensurate with skills and experience. Position
can be located in Billerica, MA or West Kingston, RI. REQUIREMENTS
