The Power Area Manager position is a management position in the mill
with fully integrated power and recovery operations. The position is
responsible for the constant supply of steam, compressed air, gas, fuel
oil, waste fuel, raw water treatment, and electric power distribution to
the mill. The Power Area Process Mangers role is to provide leadership
to the power area operations team and operating shift crews to achieve
the mill and Power Department objectives. The Power Area Process Manager
is responsible for developing process improvement plans and implementing
systems for continuous improvement, and for managing the Power Area team
in a goal-oriented environment to deliver and exceed target results in
the areas of safety, engagement, cost, reliability, and quality. This
position reports to the Business Unit Manager Primary Products &
Utilities.Key Accountabilities
Assure a safe and highly motivated workforce by demonstrating
leadership in safety and environmental efforts, by being a positive role
model, by addressing safety issues and concerns.
Provide leadership, clear direction, and develop personal
accountability to maintain a satisfactory work environment for all
employees by providing fair and equal treatment of all reports in the
department.
Manage the performance and development of salaried and hourly
members by setting clear expectations and standards of performance and
identifying and providing the necessary skill development training.
Coach, lead, support, and develop the department shift managers,
collectively as well as individually.
Direct and lead all manufacturing activities in a manner that
meets or exceeds performance and budget expectations.
Facilitate integrated action plans for productivity and cost goal
attainment and select champions to lead individual integrated action
plan items.
Continuously improve the operation by staying current with new
technologies, sharing best practices, identifying non-value added
elements and modeling continuous improvement.
Support the goals and initiatives of all Businesses supported by
the Mill.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should possess knowledge of the Power area
operations and processes. This includes knowledge of maintenance
management principles, including but not limited to precision
maintenance, preventative maintenance, root cause failure analysis,
shutdown and contingency planning, and computer based maintenance work
systems and a desire to work with maintenance as a team. Candidates
should have the talent to secure, display, communicate, evaluate and
analyze data. Candidate should under the use of key metrics to help
manage the overall operations.Candidates for this position must also possess a clear ability to manage
and coordinate multiple tasks, an understanding of team concepts, a
demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as well as an
established skill to execute work based on standards and procedures.
Basic meeting, facilitation, and listening skills, along with an
established ability to manage change and conflict are required.
Qualified candidates should have good interpersonal skills and have a
developed competency to influence others. A strong propensity to lead
and manage safety and support established safety initiatives in the
pursuit of an accident free work environment is a requirement. The
capability to set a vision and mission, develop and implement systems,
and develop guiding principles is required of this position.Bachelor degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
education/experience combination, with ten years of manufacturing
supervisory experience is preferred.Key Competencies:
