Apprentice Engineer

Property: 112 - Inforum Primary duties and responsibilities will be to maintain building lighting Assist the engineering staff and outside contractors in performing preventative maintenance inspections and repair maintenance of the building systems. The major systems are HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Lighting and Life-Safety systems Analyzes and resolves problems from tenant work orders assigned Responds to emergency situations, such as fire alarms, power failure, flooding, elevator entrapment, ambulance calls, and assist emergency personnel on the performance of their duties Monitors operations and condition of building systems, completing equipment operating logs and making minor adjustments as necessary Helps coordinate with tenant construction contractors on interface with existing building systems Assist with inspecting, cleaning and servicing of non-tenant areas, such mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, stairwells, roofs, and storage rooms Help to monitors the chemical treatment systems Reads and records tenant meter readings as necessaryMinimum Requirements: This is an entry level position that requires the individual to a have a strong interest in and aptitude for repair and maintenance. A high school diploma or GED is required. No years of work experience are required but any experience or training is beneficial. Must be service oriented and have good mathematical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Visual acuity is required for reading, visual inspection and analyzing data. The ability to distinguish color is necessary for trouble shooting electrical problems. On a regular basis this individual must be able to access areas that will require them to be able to climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, stand, push, grasp and feel. This individual may be subject to extremes in temperatures for some period of time and is subject to hazards being in the proximity of moving parts, electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places, systems working under high pressures and temperatures, and exposure to chemicals.This position may require the individual to have a valid state driver's license and be considered an acceptable risk for the employer's insurance coverage at normal rates. The individual must have reliable transportation that is available at all hours and must be able to respond to after hour emergencies or special work request.
