Children's Hospital ranks among the top two pediatric hospitalsThe Research Information Technology Department has a current opening for a Senior Desktop Architect/Engineer.JOB DESCRIPTION:The Apple Engineer will provide Tier 3 expertise to the Research Enterprise. The Engineer will have expert knowledge in scripting, security, group policy and software distribution for the Apple computing platform. This is a senior level position in the Research IT organization, which partners with CHOP IT to provide comprehensive technical solutions to the researcher community. The Engineer will conduct desktop image management, asset tracking, file storage administration, authentication tests, and other 3rd tier technical support duties for desktop support. Other projects/tasks may be assigned as situations warrant.1. Job Purpose:
Provide advanced technical guidance and support to the Apple computing infrastructure within Research at CHOP.2. Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the level one service desk by providing technical expertise. Be willing and able to plan, participate and propose suitable solutions during projects as necessary to promote a stable production environment for the client.
Build technical credibility in customer interactions. Identify and overcome technical obstacles and escalate to vendor support systems as necessary.
Communicate and represent Apple technologies to customers and management as requested.
Develop complex system solutions, from business analysis through delivery, using Apple technologies, often in multi-vendor environments, and necessitating strong integration skills. Fills the role of technical mentor, team lead and project lead if assigned.Education
Bachelor degree level or equivalent in Computer Science or other technical discipline with a high degree of computing experience. ACTC and ACSA certifications preferred, but willingness to certify may be considered in lieu of significant experience.Experience
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in development/deployment of solutions in the IS/IT field.
Hands-on experience a plus in Directory Services: OS X Open Directory, LDAP, Windows Active Directory.
Experience in heterogeneous operating system, specifically Windows and UNIX.
Hands-on experience in Email, Server, Storage and related technology such as SAN, NAS.
Hands-on experience in Network related components such as DNS, DHCP, wireless, firewall, and switches.Software:
Must be skilled in OSX and OSX server

REQUIREMENTS
Experience
