AVIATION BAGGAGE SYSTEMS SUPERVISOR

SALARY $21.04 - $31.48 hourly / $43,763 - $65,478 annualized.
EXPERIENCE Requires three years of supervisory experience in the operation and maintenance of in-line security Baggage Handling Systems or bulk Material Handling Systems, including knowledge of Allen-Bradley integrated architecture or equivalent (such as Modicon, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.); background in electro-mechanical installation operation of conventional and automated Baggage Handling Systems or Material Handling product lines; and centralized control room operation. Prior contract management experience as it relates to materials handling systems is strongly preferred. In addition, good written and oral communication skills are essential to this position. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
DUTIES Manages the day-to-day operations and maintenance of an In-Line Security Baggage Handling System in a number of airport facilities. Responsibilities include: supervising crew’s operation of the baggage handling equipment; serving as liaison with Transportation Security Administration personnel and airlines personnel. In addition this position plans, organizes and coordinates preventive maintenance of baggage handling equipment under contract such as periodic checks of high speed diverters, PLCs, vertical sorters, motor control panels, computer networks, conveyor belts, computer work stations etc; controls and manages parts inventories; and assures that the city-owned assets are protected. Currently there are five vacancies in the Aviation Department. Vacancies are anticipated over the life of this eligible-to-hire list.
ALSO REQUIRED All positions in this classification require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an acceptable driving record. All positions in the Aviation Department will be required to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check, and a City of Phoenix or other law enforcement agency fingerprint check prior to hire. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. Involves working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust. May involves walking for prolonged periods.
RESIDENCE Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the date of hire and must be maintained.
