APPLICATIONS ENGINEER - SPEAKERS / THERMISTORS

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

For over 40 years our client has specialized in developing a variety of electronic components, including varistors, relays, thermistors and speakers, for a wide range of OEM customers in the automotive, telecom and industrial products markets. Headquartered in the US, they have a significant Canadian operation located in Markham. Continued business growth has generated the need for a creative and talented Applications Engineer.

The major responsibilities for this position include:

•Act as the company’s technical resource for thermistor and speaker product families;
•Provide engineering and applications support for the sales force, including at customer sites;
•Provide technical training and presentations to inside sales/engineering personnel, as well as representatives and customers;
•Evaluate components, including preparation and assessment of suitability of sample submissions;
•Provide technical guidance in the development of new products and applications in order to improve and expand the product range;
•Create suitable literature and engineering data for products;
•Assist in the design of test fixtures to be used for QC and/or product evaluation purposes.

Note that relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

SALARY RANGE: $48K- $52K plus eligibility for bonus after 12 months.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication skills in English. The ability to work
effectively with customers.

EXPERIENCE: In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you must have:

•at least 2 years experience as an Applications Engineer for electronic components;
•familiarity with typical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, LCR bridges, etc;
•Experience with quality control procedures and standards, such as TQM, ISO9000, QS9000, SPC;
•Proficiency in AutoCAD 2000 (or better);
•a US passport and driver’s licence and be able to travel about 20% of the time.

EDUCATION: Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
