6-PWT Hybrid Powertrain Control System Engineer

The Hybrid Electric Powertrain Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing hybrid electric powertrain control systems for GM's World's Best Powertrains. In this role, the individual will work with vehicle platform, powertrain and calibration engineers to develop requirements and design and implement algorithm solutions, and test solutions with Model, Software, and Hardware-in-the-Loop methods. Tasks will include demonstrating that requirements are met with dynamometer and vehicle tests at GM's proving grounds and other global locations. Strong teamwork and collaborative development skills are essential. Basic Required



Expertise in analysis and control of dynamic systems

BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent training

Excellent oral and written communications skills

Basic Preferred

M.S. or Ph.D in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringAutomotive control system experience for production programsCurrent, expert Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow userCurrent, expert INCA userTechnical product development leadership experienceExpertise in one or many of the following control system disciplines:

Powertrain requirements documentation

Engine-transmission or engine-hybrid system coordination

Serial communications datalink management

Optimal control of hybrid system operating points

Electro-hydraulic control systems for transmission shifting

Energy storage (e.g. high voltage battery) management

Powertrain thermal system management

Electric motor control

Tools development for control system development process

 Tools development to aid calibration process
