2nd Shift Manufacturing Engineer
Purpose: An automotive manufacturing facility is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer.
POSITION SUMMARY: 2nd shift - Responsible for the design of tooling and equipment and in planning the manufacturing process for parts and assemblies for a designated manufacturing area. Work is of a technical nature where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of general practice policies. Works with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Analyzes product designs for the best method of manufacture.
2.Specifies tools, equipment and processes to produce a part or assembly or evaluate processes in assigned areas.
3.Directs the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes.
4.Develops new tools, equipment, and processes.
5.Provides technical assistance and support to manufacturing operations.
6.Analyzes product variation, plans and implements process capability improvements.
7.Supervise a unionized workforce in relation to personnel issues, job scope, discipline, reviews, etc.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Develops statistically based manufacturing control strategies.
2.Develops and implements productivity improvements.
3.Evaluates and implements new technologies.
4.Performs special projects as may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1.BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
2.High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
3.High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
4.Understanding of manufacturing processes.
5.Knowledge of materials and methods of manufacture.
6.3-5 years experience in processing machined components, tool design, tool engineering or related function.
7.Ability to interpret blue prints and drawings.
8.Experience with CNC controlled equipment.
9. Experience with Siemens controllers, CNC programming, PLC logic and binary code.
10.Knowledge of gauge methods.
11.Effective oral and written communication skills.
