is currently seeking a:

Wind Energy & Turbine Instructor/ Engineer
Job Summary:

This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and teaching courses in the
wind turbine program as defined by the College and/or collective bargaining agreement.
Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with the College and division policies and procedures.
Must have the required credentials for teaching in this field.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:Constant:
1.Effectively organize, teach, and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with established syllabi. Assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules, and locations including PSEO courses. (May include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.)
2.Evaluate, report, and record student performance and progress according to College and division guidelines.
3.Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for all courses taught.
4.Operate and maintain the College wind turbine(s) in an educationally sound, safe, and efficient manner.
Frequent:
1.Coordinate continuing education programming.
2.Serve as academic advisor to students and make referrals, when deemed necessary, to other College personnel, such as the Dean, Counselor, Financial Aid, etc. for more specialized information and assistance.
3.Attend and serve on assigned and voluntary program and College committees.
4.Assist in the development of new courses and revisions of existing courses in discipline area.
5.Assist in the marketing of the College programs and admission of students.
6.Maintain established office hours.
Occasional:
1.Regularly engage in professional development activities and keep current with developing trends and ideas in profession.
2.Assist in the process of requesting and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classroom/laboratory use.
3.Assist the supervisor in the budgeting process.
4.Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communications within the College and community.
5.Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, College activities and community activities.
6.May be required to serve as a student club sponsor.
7.Assist with maintenance of wind turbine(s).
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff and the community.
Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
Present oneself in a classroom setting in a manner that is acceptable and consistent with program and College guidelines, policies and practices.
Assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators and other contacts.
Read, understand and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.
Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.
Be a creative, energetic and self motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and educational media equipment.
Special Demands:Position involves sitting or standing most of the time in an office or classroom/laboratory setting. Constant (67-100%) reaching, standing walking, lifting, grasping, talking hearing, repetitive motions and viewing various types of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) climbing, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling and carrying. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently. May be required to travel between sites utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon
successful passage of a criminal background check.

Successful candidates will have these Minimum Qualifications:
Required: 6,000 hours of recent, relevant experience in the field or area to be taught
or
completion of a state or nationally recognized examination
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:A.S. or B.S. Degree
Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level
Comprehensive understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems including:
DC & AC electrical theory
DC & AC electric motors and electric generators
Industrial motor control systems, programmable logic control experience
Fluid power systems (hydraulic & pneumatic)
Moderate mechanical understanding (gearboxes & power-trains)
Experience with wind turbines
Salary:
Commensurate with education and related experience for a 200 day contract.
