Note: Employer is located in Springfield,MO but may allow for a flexible work arrangement whereby the VP Academic Affairs would be able to live in Kansas City and spend 3 days/week in Springfield. The school would provide housing in Springfield.The Institution:
The Forest Institute of Professional Psychology is an independent graduate school with programs leading to an APA-accredited doctorate (PsyD) in clinical psychology or master’s degree in psychology. Forest Institute follows the NCSPP education and training model which prepares entry-level clinicians to be direct providers of mental health services rather than traditional researchers or academics. Forest’s “Practitioner Model” integrates academic and clinical experience reflecting the newest advances in the field. Forest Institute is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.Forest Institute has a diverse student body of approximately 220 students. Core faculty consists of approximately 20 full-time, doctoral clinicians and 20+ adjuncts and supervisors. The student-faculty ratio is 10:1. The school also runs a Community Mental Health Clinic, which serves as the primary training site for doctoral students, an APA-accredited internship program, as well as a Post-Doctoral Residency program. With a secondary mission to serve the needs of the underserved of rural southwest Missouri, the Robert J. Murney Clinic is one of the largest training clinics in the U.S., with between 700 and 1,000 patient visits monthly. The 58 acre campus includes student housing.The Position:
The Forest Institute of Professional Psychology is seeking an academic leader who will bring strong leadership in advancing the innovative academic programs of the school. This person will report to the President and work closely with other senior administrators and with program directors and faculty in developing, establishing and delivering the academic programs of the school. The Vice President will have ownership for academics, faculty, curriculum, and students. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
•An earned doctorate in psychology, one of the behavioral, social or health sciences, or education, and relevant administrative experience is required.•The VPAA/Dean should be an entrepreneur and creative educational innovator with a demonstrated commitment to advancing psychology to the next level.•A thorough knowledge and appreciation of academic assessment, demonstrated skill in resource allocation, and an ability to organize and lead faculty in the development of new programs and evaluation and refinement of curricula is required.•The ability to drive accreditation processes is critical.•An appreciation for diversity.•Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
