Sylvan is seeking part-time independent contractors for day, evening and weekend tutoring. As an Independent Contractor of Sylvan One-on-One Tutoring you will enjoy the flexibility of managing your own schedule as well as competitive contractor compensation up to $25.00/hour.


This is a brand new opportunity from Sylvan Learning Center. We need 10 tutors for each of our eight San Diego area locations - La Mesa, Bonita, Clairemont, Mira Mesa, Carmel Valley, Vista, Rancho Bernardo, Oceanside and Imperial Beach.


A tutor will provide one on one tutoring to students Kindergarten through grade 12. The tutor will have interaction with the Sylvan Director, the student and the student’s parents. The tutor will be expected to travel to the student’s home or a location convenient for the parent and student. The tutor will work directly with students’ homework, tests or curriculum and may utilize additional resource books, questions or other materials that you choose that have proven successful in the past.
REQUIREMENTS
To tutor any math subjects - basic, algebra, geometry, calculus, etc. - you need a BA in math or a related subject.For reading tutors, a teaching certificate and college courses in reading education are required.For English, Writing, History, Social Studies, and sciences tutors - a BA in the subject area or related field is required.If you are interested in tutoring in foreign languages you will need a BA in the language or other proof of fluency.Additionally, you will need tutoring experience, daily access to a computer with Word, Excel and email as well as reliable transportation.Compensation is up to $25/hour depending on expertise and subject area.This is a terrific opportunity for someone who desires a flexible schedule. You can take as many or as few assignments as you want.
