Training Services Instructor
Electrical Reliability Services Inc. (ERS) is the nation’s leading field engineering services and testing lab for low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems. A wholly owned subsidiary of Emerson Electric Company, ERS has 28 offices, with employment opportunities coast to coast and internationally. In addition to field testing services, ERS offers its clients power systems studies; energy systems audits; and test equipment calibration; as well as listing and labeling services as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). We have an immmediate opening for a Training Services Instructor.
Training Services Instructor: JOB DESCRIPTION
Develops and conducts programs to train public clients and internal company employees. Develop course materials to include manuals, training aids, Instructor outlines, and audio/visual materials. Support new business development and service as customer contact and liaison. Position to be located in the greater Reno area reporting to the Manager of Training Services Division in Reno.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in developing new training programs; including outline, text, handouts, tests and designs of laboratory exercises
Review classes, and provide support and assistance to other instructors.
* Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainee's performance.
* Develop business, make sales calls, write and review proposals.
* Coordinate technical training schedules with supervisor, sales engineers and other instructors.
* Review and recommend Training Services Division procedures and procedure changes.
* Understand budget goals, periodically review goals to ensure division success and meet budget targets.Work with regions, area offices and marketing to promote new business.
* Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to Training Services Division.
* Perform field maintenance and testing support.
* Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of four years in related electrical power field engineering & training experience.
* Must have demonstrated the ability to work well with others, use sound judgment and possess good technical, teaching and business knowledge.
* IEEE, IAEI and/or other professional organization involvement expected.
* Make public speaking presentations as assigned.
* Must be willing to work flexible hours and weekends, if required. Must be available for out-of-area assignments of up to several weeks, and to assist on field assignments when required.
* Valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; speak clearly in front of a classroom, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
