Training Designer
Do you thrive on developing training programs that improve employee communications, organizational learning and development, and creates operational efficiencies? As a Training Designer at Kaplan Higher Education you will design, develop and evaluate training programs, training curriculum, documentation, reports and material including manuals and workbooks, facilitator guides; computer/web based training media, job aids, and evaluations. You will be working with a cross functional team of internal customers to capture specific needs, develop and customize training materials and assist in implementing organizational training initiatives. Additionally, you will ensure all programs and related materials are up-to-date, effective and ready for use. Using your well developed communication skills to understand training needs and requirements, you will apply your creative skills to design innovative interactive learning experiences.
Our office is conveniently located in the heart of Chicago at 550 W. Van Buren St. and in close proximity to the Loop CTA.
What you will do:•Conduct needs analysis, determine learning objectives and competency indicators, design course content to ensure learning objectives are met
•Design, plan, coordinate and evaluate training programs for target audiences
•Responsible for assessing the most effective instructional method for achieving learning objectives
•Responsible for assessing and recommending strategic opportunities to implement distance learning and computer/web-based training
•Develop content for training programs, training tutorials, simulations and learner aids
•Partner with business units to identify training and learning related business problems, issues, interventions and opportunities
•Evaluate and modify existing training programs and related material to make necessary improvements
•Design plans, procedures and processes for the administration of training; monitoring employee progress and program effectiveness
•Responsible for ensuring all program materials are accurate, refined and effective
•Ensure all program information and associated materials are organized and accessible for clients and employees
•Responsible for maintaining training documentation and program information libraries within corporate intranet
•Work closely with customers to gain feedback on existing and future training programs and delivery methods
•Assist in maintaining positive employee relations in the organizationExperience you need:
•Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Human Resources, Business, Education, or related field.•Minimum 2 years of relevant training experience in assessment, course design, development, delivery, measurement tools and reportingSkills you will use:
•Intermediate knowledge of MS Office required
•Able to balance multiple priorities and work well independently•Ability to liaise with customers to understand training needs and requirements•Works effectively with subject-matter experts to elicit information to design learning content•Posses creative skills to design innovative interactive learning experiences•Ability to present designs to clients and development teams•Ability to work as part of a team•Solid understanding of business principles•Excellent consulting, organizational and project management skills•Demonstrated presence and ability to communicate well with others.•Provide high-level administrative assistance for activities associated with the project, like maintaining internal training documents, website management, meeting minutes, etc.
•Availability for occasional travel (up to 25%)
