Technical Educator - SAP

Purpose of Position

Works as a member of the Learning Services team as an individual trainer to create, update and deliver administrative and end-user Open Text product training at customer and/or reseller sites as well as training customers, resellers and Open Text staff at Open Text sites. This role may entail working with customers, on a consultative basis, to determine the appropriate levels of education required for the success of an Open Text Solution implementation. This person participates in both training and curriculum development (under the guidance of the Manager of Course Development), partaking in the development and updating of administrative and end-user classroom and Computer Based Training (CBT) courses. Typically requires previous adult-learning experience, as well as a broad range of technical skills.

*** This position allows for the Technical Educator with SAP Training experience to work from a virtual home office environment with travel (up to 90%) to Open Text client sites in North America ***

Primary Duties

- Delivering lectures and answering questions.

- Assisting students during hands-on exercises.

- Assisting new instructors in learning how to teach classes.

- Preparing post-course reports.

- When necessary, working with clients to develop and deliver customized administrative and end-user Livelink training courses.

- Acts as a liaison between customers and company.

- Identifies and responds to customer questions and issues.

- Designs and writes course exercises and examples.

- Writes and edits course content (using word processing software, an HTML editor, and similar software).

- Reviews courseware and supplies feedback.

Researches new product functionality.

- Managing or assisting in the setup and configuring of software in the classroom at Open Text sites, customer sites and regional training facilities.

REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Knowledge

- Previous experience delivering SAP training classes

- Previous adult education experience

- Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills

- Understanding of Internet concepts and use

- Understanding of relational database concepts

- Good writing skills

- Some course development experience would be an asset

- Good analytical and organizational skills

Academic

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, College diploma or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

General office environment with a requirement for the Technical Educator to travel to customer sites or Open Text training facilities to deliver training about 90% of the time.
