Sr. Research Librarian

Oversee the management and strategic planning of library resources including library personnel for Avon's R&D division. This includes developing short and long term information acquisition and management plans for R&D, building the necessary technical capabilities to implement the plans, managing the library budget to maximize the ROI and managing library personnel. The job also requires the individual to interact with external vendors and experts on library efficient patent and literature searches. With regard to personnel management, the individual is expected to perform performance and career development duties in accordance with Avon policy. Finally, the individual will be expected to develop a working relationship with the Avon IT groups to ensure that all on-line resource licenses acquisitions meet the policy and equipment standards required by Avon.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a MS degree or higher in library science or related field with greater than 5 years of experience in library management. Must demonstrate the ability to develop information management strategy that meets the needs of the R&D organization. The individual will be required to have a working understanding of the R&D initiatives to proactive aid in the acquisition of information required for driving product development and commercialization. This will include the knowledge and ability to strategically evaluate and recommend usage of internal and external information management tools. Additionally, the position requires the individual to have skills in budget management and planning to maximize the ROI for the library. The individual needs to have excellent communication skills such that the library resources and information can be effectively disseminated to individuals and teams at all levels in the organization. Finally, the individual needs to have a working understanding of how to maximize information searches for both patent composition and evaluation to aid the legal and R&D staff on IP related matters.
