Senior Production Editor - Math (Project)

Wright Group of McGraw-Hill Education has an immediate opening for a Production Editor in the Editorial department, to work in-house on a project (length of contract) position.


Coordinate editorial production of multilevel projects or several projects concurrently, including proofreading, copyediting, checking page and film proofs, and monitoring schedules to achieve positive results through all phases of product development. Train members of Editorial Production as necessary. Coordinate in-house, freelance and/or development house editorial production staff.
Monitor project schedules throughout the development process for assigned projects. Report on status of project(s) weekly. Communicate any variances in project schedules to Editorial Production Manager and Product Development Managers. Collaborate with all team members including production editors, editors, and design/production to resolve schedule issues. Participate in project planning including working with team members to establish a production plan.
Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in order to meet deadlines for multiple projects.
Maintain high standard of quality for product by adhering and contributing to guidelines established in company style manual (strive for consistency of editorial style within and among group products). Provide feedback on vendors and freelancers.
Prepare reports for weekly status meeting and as needed. Communicate with suppliers and coworkers to obtain information necessary to provide a thorough, accurate, and useful report.


Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree required preferably in English, Rhetoric, Communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience.)
At least 5 years experience in text book publishing (or similar.) Experience managing multiple projects/components required.
Supervisory experience and ability to collaborate with team members across all job functions in department.
Excellent knowledge of publishing process, including editorial, editorial production and page production phases of product development.
Excellent editorial production skills, attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent command of English including grammar, spelling, punctuation, writing skills, etc.
