SURGICAL SERVICES NURSE EDUCATOR - Surgical Services

Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Surgical Services Manager, The Clinical Educator will be a Professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing education in the Operating Room Suite.
This is accomplished through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. This nurse effectively interacts with patients and other team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Evaluates educational needs and learning opportunities for all classifications of caregivers in the Operating Room.
Coordinates the operating room education activities to meet the needs of staff development, new employee orientation, and new technology.
Oversees the daily educational needs of associates in the operating room suite.
Oversees the orientation of new staff members in order to meet operating room standard performance.
Reviews skills check list and assigns preceptor as indicated.
Focuses one on one with the new staff member on an individualized basis.
Problem solves in order to support patient safety and satisfaction as well as staff nursing/physician satisfaction.
Responsible for coordinating and conducting the educational experiences of all associates in the department.
Performs periodic and final educational review of orientees performance and oversees the orientation process.
Identifies the educational needs of all staff in coordination with the nurse manager.
Develops and provides educational opportunities for staff in order to meet educational needs.
Establishes competency requirements for the operating room. Develops and updates policy and procedure in cooperation with the nurse manager.
Maintains clinical expertise by periodically providing direct patient care.
Acts a resource and role model for staff and fosters staff professional growth and development. Certification in OR Nursing highly desirable.
Coordinates the clinical learning experience for students from schools of nursing.
Participates with instructing CPR for associates.Job Requirements


Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, with a BSN.
Minimum of five years experience in Operating Room Nursing with advanced clinical skills and competency.
Teaching experience is preferred and CNOR is preferred.
Current CPR certification or within 90 days of hire.
Holds a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania and AORN certification preferred.
7:00 am - 3:30 pm M-F with some call time.
