RN Clinical Educator

Children's employees working in this department care for all ages of children from newborns through young adult with acute medical or surgical issues specializing in orthopedics and urology concerns. Depending on their health status, the average length of stay varies from two days to extended visits of 100+ days.The Clinical Educator is seen as a role model to other RN staff, and is involved in all aspects of orienting/training RN staff in addition to performing the following registered nurse duties. The RN coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.Std Hrs: .9 FTE Shift: Day / Evening

REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN license and BLS required, 2 years minimum current medical/surgical clinical experience required, preceptor experience required, demonstrated ability to teach 1:1 and to small groups; demonstrated professional behavior, including consistently modeling Children's Service Standards; demonstrated interest in nursing education as evidenced by documentation of positive consistent precepting experiences or previous experience in nursing education; demonstrated understanding of competency-based education and ability to give constructive, effective performance feedback as demonstrated through peer feedback and interview process required.Must be flexible to rotate to off shifts as needed to provide ongoing education and clinical development support to staff. To maintain clinical expertise, a minimum of half the FTE will remain in clinical practice.
