The University of Chicago Press is seeking a Production Controller for the Medical Journals Group and the General Journals Group. Selected candidates will control publication process of both print and electronic editions of scholarly medical journals. Monitor overall journal quality and adherence to production schedules. Act as primary liaison with editorial office, authors, copy editors, electronic publishing specialists, marketing and subscription fulfillment representatives, and printing vendors. Process electronic art files using graphics software. Contribute to special departmental discussions (e.g., in setting of priorities when protocols are modified).

Group Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required: prior experience in journal publishing preferred; electronic editing or production experience preferred; a minimum of two years of experience working witn computers required; a minimum of one year of user-level experience with Windows, Adobe Photoshop, Excel, UNIX, the Internet, and HTML required; graphics experience preferred; strong demonstrated language skills required; keen attention to detail required; excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to work independently required; ability to work effectively and tactfully with authors, cosorkers, editorial office staff, and vendors required; and sensitivity to strict deadlines and ability to work under pressure required.
