Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist or Occupational Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY: The Coordinator is directly responsible to the System Manger for staffing, or his/her designee, and is responsible for coordination of staff development activities for all therapy disciplines. The coordinator of education is expected to determine educational needs by the monitoring of outcomes and other data collected within the department (e.g. variance reporting). Additionally, the coordinator of education is expected to complete analysis of educational effectiveness based on outcome data. It is expected that resource utilization and efficiency of educational opportunities be considered in addition to clinical needs. The coordinator is directly responsible for coordination of student education for all therapy disciplines and acts as a liaison to the training programs. This position is responsible for oversight of tuition reimbursement program to include assisting in the selection of candidates for the program. This position, in collaboration with other departmental educators is accountable for the Rehabilitation Services orientation program. This includes design, content, analysis of effectiveness, identification of improvements needed and implementing improvements. The Coordinator of Education is responsible for initial and annual validation of competency processes and implementation for therapy disciplines; both clinical and non clinical competencies. It is the expectation that the Coordinator of Education will work collaboratively with the educators assigned to Wound Care and Rehabilitation Nursing. The Coordinator of Education will function as the departmental liaison to the System Education Department to insure that Rehabilitation Services initiatives are consistent with the System’s strategic planning.
REQUIREMENTS
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must know the principles and practice of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and/or Speech Pathology; be familiar with the discipline specific Code of Ethics; understand the practices of all 3 disciplines, have the ability and competency to operate the equipment of his or her position; perform the technical procedures, speak intelligently and in a professional manner before others; and exercise supervision and management skills. Experience with Microsoft Office Professional beneficial in this position (Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, Outlook). EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy, Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy; or licensed as an assistant with an additional bachelor’s degree.
