Parent Educator

Position located in Chicago-Cabrini Green Area.

Job Summary: Perform case management, family service planniing, recruitment and parent education duties with an emphasis on meeting the child's enviornmental and psychosocial needs. Responsible for recruiting eligible families. Insure completion of developmental screening on all children. Monitor child care provider homes for adherence to licensing standards. Complete and maintain family assessment data, service planning and family partnership agreements. Assist parents in learning about age-appropriate developmental stages of a child. Assure provision of appropriate mental health, medical and dental services for children. Maintain statistical records on individual contacts with children and families. Evaluate effectiveness of services to children and their familes. Encourage maximum involvement of parents in program. Identiify special needs of children and develop appropriate service. plans.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Early Childhood related field. One to three years of experience required. Must be familiar with the ethnic background and sensitive to the cultures of families in target communities. Director qualified (CDA + 12hours of child development or 18hours of child development) preferred. Must meet Agency and driver approval standards, and have vehicle that meets legal standards for insurance, maintenance and drivability. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Flexibility and willingness to work evening and/or weekend hours if needed to carry out all job responsibilities.
